Congratulations Gryphons 99G Red!

Hello Gryphons 99G Players & Parents,

I wanted to congratulate our Gryphons 99G Red squad for coming in first place in the 2011 Fall NorCal Premier Gold bracket. The team had 5 wins, 4 ties, no losses and scored 24 goals while allowing only 9. Most important, however, I feel that this was the best played season thus far by this Gryphons 99G Red team. The level of commitment and willingness to simply work hard and be committed to the style of soccer that very few are playing these days at this age is impressive. Throughout this season, our players have taken individual responsibility for their own games and have continued to be extremely supportive of each other. They have played with confidence and are exemplifying what a team should be like.

I’m extremely proud of our players for the work they’ve continue to put in. The joy they are having to learn and grow is what makes this very satisfying for me. Congratulations 99G Red for a well played season.  Continue to work hard and stay humble through this process and growth.

As we’ve come to an end of our Fall season, I wanted to thank our parents for their continual support and commitment to our program. I am very confident that our Gryphons 99G program will continue to grow and develop good players and strong young ladies in whatever they set their minds to do.

Finally, I would like to thank coach Yahir and coach John for their dedication, hard work and flexibility. You guys have been awesome!!!  And to the engine of our 99G program (both White and Red teams): Mary Kay and Sherri, thank you so, so much for making sure that our teams run smoothly and are well organized. You two have been exceptional and for that I thank you!!!

Once again, congratulations Gryphons 99G for a great season. Go Gryphons!!!

Thanks,
Coach Ric

Congratulations to 99G White Team!

All,

I wanted to send our Gryphons 99G White team a message of congratulations for a job well done this weekend at the Norcal State Cup, White Division. After winning yesterday’s quarterfinal game in the Bronze 1 bracket vs. the #1 seeded team in the group on penalties, our girls played in the semifinals vs. the Pleasanton Rage 99G white. Although the team lost by the close score of 2-1, Coach Yahir feels that the girls played very well throughout the tournament and sends his congratulations.

We are very proud of our Gryphons 99G players and coaches for a strong showing this weekend. Keep up the great work girls!!!

Coach Ric

Losing a Tooth on the Path to 2nd!

This weekend the Gryphons 99G red played at the Walnut Creek Summerfest. During the first game my tooth fell out in my mouth and I spit it out into my hand. Where else was I going to put it? Then I realized I had to do a throw in, so without thinking I threw my tooth back into my mouth. Finally I got my tooth out of my mouth and into my bag.

In the end we won the game, and then the next game and the next—we made it to the championship round! Unfortunately we lost the last game, but we won second place and had a lot of fun over the weekend. Congratulations and thank you to my team and Coach Ric. I can’t wait until our next tournament so we can do it again!

Come to Our Open Tryouts in May!

To our site visitors:opentryouts

As you might imagine, we’re excited to get our Spring 2010 season started!

And, we’re always pleased to add new players to our roster. Do you know players who are looking for a great, competitive soccer program on the peninsula? Do these players want to work with coaches who focus on skill development and imparting a deep understanding of the world’s best sport?

Well, look no further! The Gryphons Soccer Club’s 99G (U11) program is looking for motivated, committed soccer players who are willing to learn/develop in our 99G Black team program. Here are the details:

  • To be eligible, girls must be born between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2000
  • Open tryouts will be held:
    • Tuesday, May 11, 2010; from 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. @ Hillsdale High School soccer/football turf field
    • Friday, May 14, 2010; from 4:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. @ Laurie Meadows Park, 111 Laurie Meadows Drive in San Mateo

The Gryphons Soccer Club emphasizes individual player development, creativity and an understanding of basic game tactics and strategy. This is accomplished through the long term approach our club takes to developing players by placing each player with a team that matches her skill level. Our club understands that each player develops at a different pace and we look to meet the needs of all our players by providing training, support and exposure to various levels of competition.

For more information about our tryouts and program as a whole, please contact age group coordinator Ricardo Marta Jr. @ 650-922-3886 and check out our website. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Best,

Coach Ric

Congratulations 99G Red, Norcal Premier Fall Season U10 Gold Champions!

norcalWow!! Congratulations to our 99G Red team for clinching its first regular season championship ever! The team won the championship by finishing the season with a 7-0-2 record in the U10 Gold bracket.

I personally want to tell my girls how proud I am of you! No one can say that you have not earned this achievement. You have committed, believed, and dedicated yourselves to becoming soccer players. Your transformation as individual players and team has not come easy. Although I have constantly pushed and prodded you for the past few years, you have not complained or felt sorry for yourselves during the tough times. You simply committed yourselves to working hard and improving each day. This doesn’t mean we will be satisfied with this accomplishment, as there is still a lot of work to do. But enjoy it, be proud of it, because I am and I know how hard you’ve worked.

Congratulations 99G Red; NorCal premier soccer, Fall season U10 Gold CHAMPIONS!!!

Coach Ric
